Any prices given before a survey are estimates only. A firm price is given in writing after we have surveyed the loft. Quotations are valid for 30 days unless we say otherwise.
A quotation covers only the work described in it. If we find something during the work that could not reasonably have been seen at survey — for example hidden damage, unsafe wiring, or inadequate joists — we will stop, tell you, and agree any additional cost with you before continuing. You are never charged for extra work you have not approved.
Because we normally agree work with you in your home rather than at business premises, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 apply.
You have 14 days from the day you agree the work to cancel, without giving a reason and without penalty.
To cancel, tell us in writing — email hello@northwestlofts.co.uk or write to us. You may use the wording: “I hereby give notice that I cancel my contract for the supply of the following service…” Any deposit is refunded within 14 days of you telling us.
If you ask us in writing to start work inside that 14-day period and then cancel, we may charge for the work already carried out and materials already supplied.
So we can work safely and on time, please make sure that:
If we cannot start because access has not been arranged, we may charge a reasonable call-out fee for the wasted visit.
Some of our work is controlled work under the Building Regulations — roof window installations and replacements in particular. We will tell you at survey what your job requires and arrange the necessary notification or certification.
Planning permission is separate and is usually not needed for roof windows, but there are exceptions for conservation areas, listed buildings and Article 4 areas. Where permission is needed, obtaining it is your responsibility, though we will advise.
Loft boarding is for storage only. It does not convert a loft into a habitable room, and it does not constitute a loft conversion.
Our workmanship is guaranteed. Manufactured products — ladders, windows, insulation — carry their own manufacturer’s warranty, which we will pass on to you.
The guarantee does not cover damage caused by anyone else’s later work, by misuse, by overloading a boarded area beyond its intended storage use, or by pre-existing faults in the building that we identified and reported.
Full guarantee terms are provided in writing with your completion paperwork.
Any deposit is stated on your quotation. The balance is due on completion unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

If something is not right, contact us at hello@northwestlofts.co.uk or on 07405 852778 and we will put it right. If we cannot resolve it between us, you may be able to use an alternative dispute resolution scheme or take the matter to court. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
